The Vermont Historical Society is looking for information on the history of Vermont License plates to answer a query. The society believes that in 1949- 1950, the color of Vermont License plates alternated yearly with green license plates with white letters one year and white license plates with green letters the next year. They are unsure how long this went on for.
They also believe there may have been a possibility that New Hampshire did the same alternating the opposite years of Vermont’s license plates, although they are not 100% sure of that. Anyone with information on this history of license plates in Vermont and /or information on whether New Hampshire alternated their license plates as well, using the opposite of Vermont’s plate colors can e-mail the historical society at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line License Plate Answer.
