NEW ENGLAND’S HISTORIC PAINTED THEATER CURTAINS, Fairlee Town Hall auditorium

On Thursday November 15 at 6:30 PM, Fairlee Community Arts will host a presentation by Vermont Humanities Council speaker, Christine Hadsel, on the history of these uniquely New England village icons. Not only do they represent the work of talented, often itinerant, artists and historic village scenes, but an era in New England when traveling road shows and locally-made entertainments were the nucleus of community life and community spirit in our rural towns.
This free presentation will take place in the wheelchair-accessible Fairlee Town Hall auditorium against the backdrop of Fairlee’s own beautifully restored 1912 painted canvas curtain depicting a turn-of-the-century summer scene on Lake Morey.
