Matt and Alex write Montana Vacation Blog, with the occasional guest blogger. Alex is from Kalispell, Montana. Alex left the state of Montana several times to “see the world.” Getting away from my home state was a huge part of Alex’s life learning experience. Alex attended college at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and then transferred to the University of Otago, in Dunedin, New Zealand. Alex earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Otago. Alex returned home to Montana briefly, and earned my open water certification in diving. Alex went scuba diving in Panama shortly thereafter.
Alex went to law school at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon, where I earned my JD. I spent a summer studying law in Beijing, China, and visited the terracotta warrior soldiers and spent a few days in Shanghai. While in China, I hopped a plane to Thailand and enjoyed the spectacular beaches!
I met my husband, and life has settled down …. somewhat. We have three dogs, and our beautiful baby girl was born in 2012!
I grew up competing in freestyle skiing, in the discipline of moguls, aerials, and acro. Skiing is my passion, and always will be.
My husband is an avid outdoorsman and is from Butte, Montana.
I have been fortunate to see many beautiful places in the world. But it took leaving the state of Montana to remind me what I was missing back home. Things move at a slower pace in Montana, and people are kind. I am always thankful when I pull into an empty parking lot, or drive on an abandoned dirt road. There is nothing better than Montana.
Matt and I have spent many hours on the open Montana road. (Usually with a few dog tongues hanging out the back window.) I realized in 2012 that I want to share our experiences with others.
When I travel, I spend a lot of time researching what to do and where to go, and I love finding online tips from fellow travelers. Millions of people visit Montana each year. I hope to provide you with the information that you need in traveling here from a local’s point of view! I hope the information provided is helpful to you as you plan your vacation and take your trip through this beautiful state.
Although we live in northwest Montana, we give information on traveling and vacationing in the entire state. We personally love to hike, ski, boat, swim, ride horses, fish, hunt, etc……the list goes on and on. You name it, we can do it here! This blog is more specifically provided for families and family friendly activities. Since we have three dogs and a new baby, we will often give information to those traveling with animals and family. The more, the merrier!
There are few places as special as Montana, from its majestic Rocky Mountain Peaks to the rolling plains on the east side, this state has something for everyone! Friendly people also help make this place special. We are fortunate enough to take advantage of all the recreational activities on a frequent basis, and we hope you are able to visit and experience what we get to!
