Fork It Over Girl Scout Cookie Recipe Competition

WORCESTER, MA. – Move Over Top Chef, it’s almost time for Fork It Over, an annual cooking competition to benefit the Leadership Development Programming of the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. The one stipulation for participating chefs? One of their recipe ingredients must be Girl Scout Cookies.
Participating restaurants, including both new and returning entrants, choose the cookies they would like to make a dish with. Past dishes have included Lemon Crab Rangoons, Chicken Waffles, Sushi and Vegetarian Lasagna. “Usually the event attracts 250 people so we ask that restaurants make enough of their dish to feed 250 people,” said Melanie LeBoeuf Development Manager of the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts.
There are two categories in the competition, Sweet and Savory. In each category there is the Judges Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. “Some restaurants put a dish in one category and some enter a dish in both categories,” LeBoeuf said.
Last year’s winner in the Savory Category were The Bay Path High School Culinary Program and their Roast Duck, Savannah Smiles and Trefoils Dumpling with Apple Dijon Samoas dipping sauce and Figs and Pigs Kitchen and Pantry with their Chicken Satay and Peanut Sauce with Coconut Rice and Lemon Polenta Cakes with Pear Brandy Compote. Last year’s winner in the Sweet category were The Publick House with their Hand Cask Chocolates and The Overlook with their Lamb and Mushroom Duxelle Strudel with a Minted Chocolate Demi-Glace and Salted Caramel Espresso Bars.
Fork It Over will be held on March 26, from 5-7 p.m. at the Worcester Art Museum. Along with sampling the foods, attendees will enjoy live music, a tour of the museum, a cookie-flavored cocktail, will receive a recipe book highlighting the evening’s food, may sample the foods and have the chance to try their luck at the raffle tables filled with local items. Tickets are $50 and 2 for $80 if purchased before March 22.

The following restaurants have been confirmed as entrants: Baba Sushi & Hot Pot, Basil n’ Spice, Bull Mansion, Hilltop Restaurant at Bay Path RVTHS, Karol’s Corner, Lock50 Resturant and Wine Bar, Niche Hospitality, Old Sturbridge Village, Pepe’s Italian Restaurant, Publick House and Samuel Slater’s Restaurant
