Cape Cod Light photo by Cape Night Photography

“A New Light” Recently, Highland Light (also known as Cape Cod Light) had its beacon upgraded to a bright LED lamp and, I am told, is the first active light of many in the country to receive the modification. The spinning mechanism was removed which means that visitors to the site will no longer be able to view its multiple beams sweeping the landscape nearby. Mariners at sea will continue to observe what they’ve always been able to; a flash of light every five seconds. The LED means longer bulb life, less maintenance and energy savings.
So get out there and shoot those lighthouses, folks, because LED might be replacing your old favorite spinners soon.
This was my first time photographing the new light which appears more of a blue/white as opposed to the warmer incandescent tone of the original fixture.
